Customers and visitors to my shop often ask what’s popular or what the current collecting trends are.
The newest generation of collectors like to find things they remember from their childhood. That is why so many of my customers look for furniture and household items from the 1960s and 70s. What is interesting is that those items are only about 35 years old! Pieces from that are era are definitely classified as collectibles not antiques. The accepted definition of antiques is 100 years old. Anything that someone finds value in (whether it’s 25, 35, or 55 years is old) is considered a “collectible”.

Regarding the current trend: quality antiques are always in style.
