Introducing… Joyce’s Choice.

From time to time, I come across and have available for sale in my shop especially rare, one-of-a-kind antiques and collectibles. I decided it’s time to highlight these items and help discerning collectors from around the country find them.

So, we’ve created a new section on the web site: Joyce’s Choice. In this section, we’ll put photos and details on the latest new item and keep a running catalogue of all the rare items we’ve selected. (When one of these rare items is sold, we’re mark it on our web site — but if it’s listed, it’s still available. These are hard to find items, and limited quantity, so first-come, first-served!)

The very first piece to make it in the Joyce’s Choice collection is a rare hand-painted McCoy Figural Planter vintage approx 1950. To see pictures and learn more about this piece, check out the new Joyce’s Choice page. Enjoy!

Future antique mall to locate near HH Antiques

Wildwood Antiques Mall will soon be opening in Toledo, Ohio, about one mile southwest of our location at HH Antiques. The new mall will feature antiques and collectibles offerings from about fifty dealers. We are looking forward to the new collectors the mall will bring to the area and supporting the growing market for discerning conneisseurs of antiques and vintage goods in the northwest Ohio/southeast Michigan area. Wildwood Antiques Mall’s target date for their grand opening is November 1st 2006.

Current collecting trends show fondness for childhood items

Customers and visitors to my shop often ask what’s popular or what the current collecting trends are.
The newest generation of collectors like to find things they remember from their childhood. That is why so many of my customers look for furniture and household items from the 1960s and 70s. What is interesting is that those items are only about 35 years old! Pieces from that are era are definitely classified as collectibles not antiques. The accepted definition of antiques is 100 years old. Anything that someone finds value in (whether it’s 25, 35, or 55 years is old) is considered a “collectible”.

Regarding the current trend: quality antiques are always in style.
